Originaire de Bouctouche, au Nouveau-Brunswick, Émerise LeBlanc-Nowlan a obtenu son baccalauréat en science infirmière de l’Université de Moncton et a fait des études en santé mentale à la University of New Brunswick, à Fredericton. Après avoir travaillé dix ans au Children Hospital d’Ottawa, elle est revenue à Moncton en 1995 pour poursuivre sa carrière d’infirmière.
Son intérêt pour le dessin et son amour des gens l’ont amenée à jumeler emploi et cours d’art. Elle a participé à plusieurs expositions de peinture à Ottawa et à Moncton. Émerise LeBlanc-Nowlan illustre aussi ses livres, sous son nom d’artiste, Emy.

Émerise Leblanc-Nowlan, from Bouctouche, New Brunswick, received her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Moncton and studied mental health at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. After working for ten years at the Children’s Hospital in Ottawa, she returned to Moncton in 1995 to pursue her career as a nurse.

Her interest in drawing and her love of people led her to combine her job with an art course. She has participated in many painting exhibitions in Ottawa and Moncton. Émerise Leblanc-Nowlan illustrates her own books under her artist name, Emy.
